Art UnderPlants™ Planting & Maintenance Instructions Planting Sensor Placement
Make sure the white cylindrical tip is at end of the sensor tube. Dip the tip into water for 15 seconds to activate. Take a pencil-sized stake and make a hole at a 45° angle into the soil. Remove the stake and insert the sensor into hole. The sensor tip must be 1/3 to 1/2-way down in the soil in the Art Underplants pot. The part of the tube showing above the soil should not loop, kink or bend. Make sure to backfill soil around sensor, packing firmly. Filling and Maintenance Check the water level no more frequently than necessary (typically every two weeks) by dipping a stake in the fill hole (like checking the oil level in your car). Refill the reservoir before it goes dry, then moisten the rubber stopper and replace it, pushing firmly with a slight twist. Deposit water-soluble fertilizer into the fill hole per their instructions. Troubleshooting
A properly functioning Art UnderPlants™ system will normally have dry topsoil, and, after two weeks the water level in the reservoir will have dropped. The soil 1" to 2" below the surface will be moist, but not wet.
