Green Roofs Viking Holm (pictured below) in Emerald Bay at Lake Tahoe, California is a fine example of an old well established green roof. Planted with native grasses and wildflowers, this green roof uses rooftop water that would otherwise be run off. The video clip to the right features a green roof on a 6x8 toolshed installed by deeper greeN in September 2007. The benefits of a green roof are numerous. They offer additional building protection, mitigate the heat island effect, offer energy savings and control stormwater runoff. Green roofs help clean and purify air, offer sound insulation, create natural habitats, they also add color and beauty and increase property value.
